Google Earth is an excellent resource and I have learned many things about my region. I didn’t know that that patch of trees in my backyard was at the end of a continuous stand of timber that gives us access to probably 2,000 acres of native timber complete with wildlife.
I found a large parcel that used to be a farm, then a golf course, and now a nature preserve. I predict that it will be a farm again within a decade. Its got fruit-producing trees throughout which were probably leftovers from the farm.
There is a whole list of government rules about what you can and can’t do there, but I see no rule about planting potatoes. I’m going to sneak in and plant a couple of potato seeds, just for fun.
